Shiatsu in Florianópolis
Private service, by appointment.
Shiatsu is a Japanese massage that uses hand pressure on specific points of the body to ease tension and restore a sense of balance. In downtown Florianópolis, Shriya offers shiatsu in a calm, private and welcoming room, meant for slowing down.
The session
What shiatsu is
In Japanese, shi means finger and atsu means pressure. The technique comes from Japan and draws on ideas from Eastern medicine, including meridians, the pathways along which energy is understood to move. With steady, rhythmic pressure from the fingers, palms and elbows, shiatsu works these points to release muscle and bring back a feeling of lightness.
Unlike other massages, shiatsu does not use oil. It is given in light, comfortable clothes, which makes it practical for someone who wants to care for the body in the middle of a working week.
What the session is like
The session lasts about 1 hour. It starts with a short conversation about how you feel, where tension sits and whether there is any pain or special care to know about. You then lie on a mat or on the table, clothed, and receive pressure along the back, shoulders, neck, arms, legs and feet.
Intensity is always adjusted for you. Pressure should be firm, but comfortable. Through the session, breathing slows, the body relaxes and the mind follows.
Who it is for
Shiatsu is a good choice if your shoulders, neck and back hold tension from work or posture, if stress is high and you want a moment to switch off, if you train and want muscles to loosen, if you prefer a massage without oil and in clothes, or if you want a wellness practice you can repeat.
Benefits
With regular sessions, shiatsu may help ease muscle tension, support circulation, reduce the feeling of fatigue and stress and favor quieter sleep. Many people also describe more energy and a clearer balance between body and mind afterwards.
